Itinerary of the 3-Day Trip to Abydos, Dendera, Luxor – Private
We will pick you up early in the morning from your hotel in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle and begin the 230-kilometer journey from Safaga to Luxor. Most of the drive offers views of the desert landscape with volcanic-like mountains shaped by nature, until we reach the Nile Valley, where you will get authentic glimpses of everyday rural life in the villages along the Nile.
On the first day in Luxor, you will visit the mortuary temple complex built by Ramses III, considered one of the last great monuments from the peak period of the Pharaohs. Next, you will explore the Nobles’ Tombs, where colors have remarkably survived for thousands of years (two tombs).
In West Thebes, you will also enjoy the delicious taste of freshly prepared Egyptian specialties.
Later, you will be impressed by the beautiful, colorful feminine tombs in the Valley of the Queens.
During the crossing of the Nile, you will enjoy scenic views of the river on a motorboat for about half an hour. After checking in, you will spend your first night in a hotel on the east bank of Luxor.
In the evening, you will travel by horse-drawn carriage from your hotel to the Luxor Temple, where you will experience the beauty of the temple illuminated at night.
On the second day, we will turn many pages of the ancient Egyptian history book, as depicted on the columns and walls of the Karnak Temple Complex (spending a full three hours exploring the site).
After lunch in East Luxor, we will head to the Osiris Temple built by Seti I, where the earliest canon laws of art and architecture were established.
We will spend the night in a hotel in Abydos (modern-day Sohag).
On the third day, after breakfast, we will travel to Dendera, home of the temple complex dedicated to the goddess of beauty and magic, which in ancient times served as an astronomical study center. The zodiac in the second floor of the temple is better preserved than the one in the Louvre Museum in Paris, believed in ancient times to represent the point where heaven and earth connect.
At the end of this journey (Luxor, Dendera, Abydos), we will begin our return trip to Hurghada.
